Learning French isn’t really about vocabulary or grammar. It’s about slipping into a way of thinking shaped by genuine thoughts, contradictions, rebellion, history, artistic approach, and understated elegance. In my class, the language comes wrapped in its mentality, its habits, its non-logical rules, its beautiful oddities, and taught the way it’s actually lived and spoken by natives. It asks for curiosity, nuance, and a little courage. The rest… you discover along the way.
Academic Statement
My approach to teaching French is based on the belief that the study of languages cultivates both linguistic proficiency and intellectual curiosity. I strive to create an environment where students fully engage with the French language while developing their cultural awareness and analytical skills. Through a combination of communicative practice, textual analysis, and reflective writing, students acquire the ability to express complex ideas in French.
I place great value on rigor, clarity, and dialogue, and I view teaching as a collaborative process. By encouraging thoughtful participation and sustained engagement with French and Francophone cultures, I aim to inspire students to see language learning as an enriching and transformative endeavor.
Culture, Literature and Critical Thinking
Teaching French is inseparable from teaching culture. My pedagogical approach integrates language instruction with literature, history, film, and philosophy to foster critical thinking and cultural literacy. I encourage students to engage with French and Francophone texts not only as linguistic exercises, but as windows into diverse ways of understanding identity, power, and human experience.
In my classroom, students analyze texts through discussion and writing, developing interpretive skills while strengthening their command of French. I view my role as a guide who helps students move from understanding to interpretation, and ultimately to independent, thoughtful expression in the target language.
Immersion and Competency-Based Instruction
I believe that every student is capable of learning a foreign language if they are provided with an inclusive, structured, and encouraging environment. My teaching philosophy prioritizes accessibility, clarity, and respect for diverse learning styles and backgrounds. I design lessons that combine rigor and empathy, so that students feel both challenged and supported.
I utilize a variety of teaching methods—collaborative activities, visual aids, and progressive exercises—to meet the needs of different learners. By building confidence and emphasizing progress over perfection, I aim to reduce anxiety and empower students to use French with confidence and authenticity.
French literature is a bridge between imagination and reality.
French literature unfolds as a quiet rebellion of the soul, where emotion is elevated to a form of truth and inner turmoil becomes a lens through which society is examined. Beneath its lyricism links a deep critical gaze, questioning authority, morality, and the fragile promises of progress. Nature, memory, and solitude are not mere motifs but instruments of resistance against rigid rationalism. French literature transforms personal suffering into a universal dialogue, exposing the fractures between idealism and reality. In this tension, beauty and critique coexist, shaping a tradition that is both passionately human and intellectually uncompromising.
Beginner Level
For beginners, I offer a progressive and structured approach, based on a balance of theory and practice. We first work on the essential basics: grammar, verb conjugation, prepositions, then pronouns, adverbs, and different verb tenses, step by step.
Each concept is immediately put into practice through targeted exercises that I send regularly, as well as through dialogues. The goal is to build a solid foundation while developing both oral and written expression from the very beginning. This method allows learners to progress with confidence and to permanently assimilate the fundamentals of French.
Intermediate Level
For intermediate learners, I primarily work with texts or newspaper articles. This approach allows for the simultaneous development of: pronunciation, vocabulary, reading and listening comprehension.
I also incorporate quizzes to review grammar and verb conjugation, in order to reinforce what has been learned. This method yields excellent results: it promotes rapid progress and significantly improves fluency. The goal is to enrich language skills while strengthening the grammatical structure of the language.
Advanced Level
For advanced learners, I use more complex texts and in-depth news articles, as well as materials focused on argumentation. Students are encouraged to express their opinions, debate, and construct arguments.
This work develops critical thinking, creativity in French, and the ability to express oneself with precision. The main objective is to achieve greater fluency, improved oral proficiency, and more natural expression in complex situations.
